Bible in 90 Days - Day 7 (Exodus 29:1-40:38)

Lord, open our hearts and minds
by the power of your Holy Spirit,
that we may hear your Word with joy. Amen.

I was reflecting on yesterday's reading in terms of Pentecost and the message about gifts of the Spirit being for the good of the community. I was struck by Bezalel's gifts, which were clearly Spiritual gifts. "Then the Lord said to Moses, 'See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts— to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of craftsmanship.'"

One more note about reading:
You may have noticed that the word LORD is written in all capital letters in the NIV. The word “lord” has many uses, everywhere from “lord of the house” to “Lord of the universe.” God goes by several names in the Bible, one of which is YHWH, or Yahweh. This is the covenant name for God, the name that many Jews refuse to say out loud because it is so holy. Many of these Jews simply say “Adonai,” which means “Lord,” whenever they see the word YHWH. Whenever the Hebrew name YHWH shows up, the NIV translates it in all capitals: LORD. This distinguishes the covenant name YHWH from any other use of the word “lord.” This is the same name that the King James Version translates “Jehovah.”
