Bible in 90 Days - Day 31 (1 Chronicles 24:1-2 Chronicles 7:10)

O Lord, you have given us your Word
for a light to shine upon our path.
Grant us so to meditate on that Word,
and to follow its teaching
that we may find in it the light
that shines more and more
until the perfect day.
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

The opening verses of chapter 24 really serve to show the continuity of God’s grace to the small remnant returned from exile.

There is a lot of focus on the details of the temple again. The Chronicler was writing to a generation that hadn’t seen that temple. The Babylonians sacked it and burned it. It will be rebuilt, but not with the same glory we see here. The temple is also a focus because it represents God’s presence. All the crimes against the temple represent the people’s crimes against God, and all the reverence toward the temple represents reverence toward God.
